The grass is in on the Philadelphia CC. Centennial 9 Hole course.

These bunkers and greens drew inspiration from the original 18 holes of the Spring Mill course.

We could not be more pleased with the results and look forward to celebrating the course reopening in 2021.

Architects Notes - Part One of Three

For years, members and guests of Pennsylvania’s Concord Country Club, and most others had always thought they were playing a Donald Ross Course. A number of greens bore a striking resemblance to Ross greens at other Ross courses.

Concord 2020 - Architects Notes

Part Two of Three

After wrapping the master plan we were examining a collection of William Flynn drawings. We came across Flynn’s plans for Brinton Lakes Country Club, now known as Concord Country Club.  After some discussion with our friends about how Ross was getting credit for this course Jim Nagle remarks, “this appears to be a Flynn course.”

Part Three of Three

The stewards of Donald Ross History at the Given/Tuft’s Library and Archives in Pinehurst had no record of any Ross plans for Brinton Lakes nor Concord.  Based on the William Flynn plans for Brinton Lakes in hand, the collective genius of the occupants in that room agreed that Concord was a Flynn design.

The team reconfigured the master plan and since that day, the steady improvements to Concord have restored the superb qualities of Mr. Flynn's work.

Next up? Revival of “The Great Hazard”.
